Default Passwords Led to $55 Million in Bogus Phone Charges

The U.S. Justice Department today unsealed indictments against three Filipino residents accused of hacking into thousands of private telephone networks in the United States and abroad, and then selling access to those networks at call centers in Italy that advertised cheap international calls.

Strela udarila oblak!

Amazon’s cloud was struck by lightning earlier this week. And that’s the truth.

On Wednesday evening at about 6:30pm Pacific time, some Amazon cloud sitters saw their floating servers disappear – and yes, the company blamed the temporary outage on a lightning strike.

PC Pro: News: BT wants BBC to pay-up for iPlayer

BT is tired of the BBC and other video sites getting a “free ride” on its networks.

Last week a row erupted between BT and the BBC, after it emerged that BT was choking iPlayer streams on some of its broadband packages, which the broadcaster said was hurting viewers’ ability to watch television online.

John Petter, managing director of BT Retail’s consumer business, has now accused the BBC of getting a “free ride”.

ARGH!

Legal Authority Kills French Three-Strikes Law | TorrentFreak

The French Hadopi legislation passed last month introduced draconian measures to combat piracy, including a “three strikes” regime for persistent copyright infringers. However, France’s highest constitutional authority today ruled that Internet access is a fundamental human right and killed the three-strikes provision.

Kitajski računalniki morajo imeti vladin software :)

China has defended the use of new screening software that has to be installed on all computers.

Foreign ministry spokesman Qin Gang said the software would filter out pornographic or violent material.

Critics have complained that it could also be used to stop Chinese internet users searching for politically sensitive information.

But Mr Qin, speaking at a regular press briefing, said China promoted the healthy development of the internet.

All computers sold in China – even those that are imported – will have to be pre-installed with the “Green Dam Youth Escort” software.
