In a statement seen by the Guardian, a coalition of bodies representing a range of stars including Sir Paul McCartney, Sir Elton John and Damon Albarn attacks the proposals as expensive, illogical and “extraordinarily negative”.

The Featured Artists Coalition (FAC), the British Academy of Songwriters, Composers and Authors (Basca) and the Music Producers Guild (MPG) have joined forces to oppose the proposals to reintroduce the threat of disconnection for persistent file sharers, which was ruled out in the government’s Digital Britain report in June.

OpenBitTorrent is a bittorrent tracker free for anyone to use. You don’t need to register, upload or index a torrent anywhere, all you have to do is to include the OpenBitTorrent tracker URL in your torrent.

How does it work?

When you create a torrent file the application will ask you for a tracker address, then simply type in OpenBitTorrents tracker URL’s:

Why use the OpenBitTorrent tracker?

There are no open independent stable trackers out there, most of the trackers that can be used openly are either unstable or in some way connected to a bittorrent indexing site. We felt there was a need for a free, no strings attached, stable bittorrent tracker.

You got yourself a brand new cell phone. You then go do the honest thing and pay that huge amount of money for a ring tone and put it on your cell phone and set it to be your ring tone. Apparently, you now have to hope that your phone doesn’t ring or else you are allegedly infringing copyright unless you pay a performance tax – at least that’s what ASCAP is hoping for.

The MPAA apparently said that the “enemies of copyright have really done a good job at creating the false premise that the interest of copyright holders and the interest of society as a whole are antagonistic” during the World Copyright Summit. The worry is that their pro-copyright advocacy perspective is fading away in the public conscious.

Doh… če enačijo pirateriziranje z umorom, krajo ipd…, če računajo izgube one download == one lost sale, in potem prikazujejo škodo v milijardah (pomisle mal, kokr spirateriziranih cdjev/filmov bi dejansko kupli, če se jih neb dal piraterizirat, torej za koliko bi dejansko plačal ~20eur…)
